WELCOME TO

THE GREAT BRITISH WOODSHOP TV SERIES

Before the Great British Bakeoff, Great British Sewing Bee and Great British Railway Journeys was The Great British Woodshop.

“The Great British Woodshop” launched on the Discovery Channel in 2004 and was aired for nearly 10 years building a dedicated fan base around the world.

It celebrated the best of traditional furniture making, taking inspiration from the old world and transforming those pieces of furniture into ones that are ideally suited for today’s living, creating pieces that have translated through time.

In each episode craftsman David Free, guides audiences through the process of building pieces of furniture of a style that is currently popular with today’s homeowners. In a relaxed and informative manner, David demystifies the art of furniture making and takes audiences on a tour of some of the most magnificent historical homes in the UK to seek out the best examples of quality workmanship.

Viewers will be encouraged to stretch their DIY skills and try some of these projects in their own home workshops and now that the DIY Superstores are full of woodworking machinery at very affordable prices, there’s never been a better time to build a home workshop and have fun, making some of your own furniture. Making a piece of furniture to your own specific requirements not only fulfils practical needs but it also gives you a great sense of achievement.

Details on the wood, the hardware, the tools, construction and finishing techniques will give viewers the information they need to build the projects at home or just sit back, relax and watch how a piece of furniture is made.

We hope you enjoy watching The Great British Woodshop. Happy woodworking!
