Metabo

Metabo are one of our major sponsors and their range of hand power tools are the tools chosen by professionals. The people who installed our dust extraction system in the workshop use the same tools we use in the shop. The cordless drill he had had been dropped from the second story of a building, abused something rotten during site work and it never missed a beat. The battery life on these tools is terrific and with plenty of power you'll find you almost never reach for a 240v tool again. Visit their website by clicking on the icon above for more info or to see the tools used on The Great British Woodshop check out the photos opposite.

Notes: This is a small but powerful cordless screwdriver that gets into places its big brother can't - When the guys at Metabo told us about it David was a bit sceptical because of its size but the torque on this little screwdriver is amazing - The bigger one is the BST 18 Plus. - This cordless drill is powerful enough to drill concrete, it has Hammer function - Vari speed - CW & CCW rotation - And a Quick-Action keyless chuck and the battery lasts for ages

Notes: A good quality circular saw is a must have for your workshop - Used properly this tool can cover almost all your sawing tasks - Even if you don't have a Table Saw, with a straight edge guide and an acurate saw like this you can achive fantastic results - Check out Metabo's website for the specs.

Notes: Cordless saws make life easy but you have to be sure you buy one that has enough power to do the job - Many of the low priced cordless tools on the market just don't have the torque and staying power to make them a really useful tool - This saw has an 18V battery and comes with a charger and a good quality 24 tooth carbide tip blade - When David is cutting sheet material up to about 12mm thick this is the tool he like to use

Notes: Ho 0882 - An electric planer seems like a bit of a luxury in the workshop until you have to plane the bottom of your first door then you appreciate the power of one of these tools David doesn't use this tool all the time on the show but when he's preparing material for the projects this tool is out of the box and busy

Notes: Ideal for sanding internal and external curved surfaces and when you don't want to pull out the big Random Orbit sander Slim housing for sanding in confined spaces perfect for getting into confined spaces and it has a variable speed control

Notes: A saw like this is a pretty good stand in for a Radial Arm Saw. Not suitable for very wide cuts but if your average board width is around 10" to 12" then this is ideal. The miter saw is one of those power tools that evey home should have. Saw head slants up to 48° on both sides Integrated cutting depth adjustment Cutting depth up to 81 mm Turntable position can be steplessly adjusted between 50° on the left and 60° on the right side

Notes: This triangular base sander is a orbital sander similar to the tools below but its triangal base plate allows you to get into corners perfect for taking old paint off window frames or sanding into those really hard to get at places It's variable speed and has a dust extraction port built in so you can connect it to your workshop vac

Notes: This sander has a dual orbit size feature that allows you to switch from a fast sanding rapid removal orbit to a fine orbit for more delicate work Vairable speed control is really essential on sanders always look for this when you by a sander

Notes: David likes this a jigsaw as it makes it easier to get it into small places. Other type that have a D handle can be more cumbersome but this design allows for single handed operation in any position The other great thing about this jigsaw is it has a quick blade change system Vairable speed and dust extraction as standard and gives a very accurate cut
